How we work with clients outside India

You should be able to run an Indian legal matter from your own country and time zone, knowing at each stage what is happening, what it costs and what you need to do next. This is how we make that work.

Our process, step by step

  1. Tell us what has happened

Email, WhatsApp or use the contact form with a short note, your country and any deadline. Scans or phone photos of key documents help us respond usefully.

  2. Video consultation

We fix a video call at a time that works across both time zones, discuss the facts and explain your options, risks, likely timelines and what may need travel.

  3. Written fee quote

You receive a written quote setting out our fee by stage and the expected government fees, court fees and stamp duty, so you can decide before committing.

  4. Documents signed where you live

We draft the power of attorney, affidavits or consents and tell you exactly how to sign them in your country: before a notary followed by an apostille, or at the Indian embassy or consulate.

  5. Courier and stamping in India

You courier the signed originals to our office. We have them stamped within the time allowed and, where needed, registered or adjudicated.

  6. Our team acts in India

Our advocates and staff file papers, attend courts, sub-registrars, revenue offices, banks and authorities, and work with your attorney holder if you have appointed one.

  7. Updates after every step

After each hearing, filing or response, you receive a short written update with the next date and copies of the documents and orders.

  8. Closure and money out

When the matter ends, you receive the final order, certificate or registered document, with guidance on tax and on repatriating any proceeds.

Signing documents abroad

Most Indian matters need at least one signed original from you. The method depends on where you live:

Your countryHow you sign
Hague Apostille Convention in force with India (for example USA, UK, Canada, Australia, most of the EU)Sign before a local notary, then obtain an apostille from the designated authority
Convention not in force with India (for example UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Germany)Sign before a notary and have it attested by the Indian mission, or sign directly before an Indian consular officer

Once the original reaches India it must be stamped within three months. We send you a checklist with the exact wording, number of copies and identity documents before you book an appointment, so you sign once. See apostille and attestation and power of attorney.

Fees and payment from abroad

We charge a fixed fee for defined work such as a power of attorney, a registration or a return, and a stage-wise fee for litigation, so you do not pay in advance for stages that may never arise. Government fees, court fees and stamp duty are paid at actuals and shown separately. Fees can be paid by international bank transfer, and you receive an invoice or receipt for every payment. Advocates in India cannot charge fees linked to the outcome of a case, so our fees never depend on the result.

Court cases while you are abroad

Our advocates attend routine hearings without you. Where a court requires your personal evidence or statement, many courts allow it by video conference or through a commission, and we apply for this where the court permits. If travel cannot be avoided, we plan the visit around the hearing dates so that one trip covers everything needed.

Frequently asked questions

What time zone do you work in?

Our office hours are Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 7:00 pm IST (UTC+5:30). We fix video calls at a time that works across both time zones and reply to emails and WhatsApp messages on working days.

Which video platform do you use?

Whichever suits you, usually WhatsApp video, Google Meet or Zoom. Hearings in Indian courts use the platform the court specifies.

Can I send scans instead of originals?

Scans are enough for advice and drafting. Documents to be filed, stamped or registered usually need the signed original, which you courier to our office.

Can a relative in India help instead of me signing everything?

Yes. You can appoint a relative or other trusted person as attorney holder by a power of attorney, and we work alongside them.

How will I know what is happening in my case?

You receive a written update after every hearing or significant step, with the next date and copies of orders and filings.
